Direct mount brakes are currently the non-plus ultra in the racing bike scene. While a conventional brake block is attached by means of a central axis, the direct mount brake is fixed to the frame via two pivot points (dual pivot: a separate pivot point for each brake flank). These systems offer a higher stiffness and, compared to other models, a weight saving of 10 – 40%, depending on the model.
In Tektro's TRP T860, which is characterised by a fantastic performance, iglidur® G plain bearings help not only by keeping the unit weight low at just about 233 grams. Rather, they ensure the reliable mobility and function of the two independently adjustable brake arms.
