Mechanical properties

Maximum recommended surface pressure represents a mechanical material parameter. Tribological conclusions cannot be drawn from it. With increasing temperatures, the compressive strength of iglidur® J350 plain bearings decreases. Fig. 02 clarifies this connection.
iglidur® J350 plain bearings are suitable for high and medium loads. Fig. 03 shows the deformation under temperature. The behavior of materials under short-term stress is shown here. Different ambient temperatures make this noticeable only from about 60 MPa.

Permitted surface speeds

iglidur® J350 bearings are well suited for low and medium speeds, both in rotating and oscillating applications. The wear rates are much better in rotating applications. And linear motions can be well mounted with iglidur® J350.

Temperatures

The temperatures prevailing in the bearing system also have an influence on the bearing wear. The wear rate of the iglidur® J350 bearings changes only slightly at higher temperatures. Sometimes the wear decreases even at 100°C. An additional securing is recommended at temperatures higher than +140°C.

Friction and wear

The coefficients of friction of iglidur® J350 in dry operation against steel lie in a very good range. They decrease significantly at higher surface speeds. This benefits the service life of the bearings in continuous operations with high surface speeds. Fig. 04 clarifies this connection. Especially with loads larger than 2 MPa, the iglidur® J350 bearings are clearly superior to other bearings in rotating applications.

shaft materials

Figure 06 and 07 show a summary of the results of tests with different shaft materials. iglidur® J350 plain bearings are suitable for all gliding partners. A pairing however comes to mind when you look at the wear data of the tests: iglidur® J350 against V2A. There are not many bearing materials that are suitable for the otherwise rather difficult shaft partner stainless steel (V2A) and achieve best wear rates. Excellent wear results can also be observed with hard-anodized aluminum shafts. Please contact us in case the shaft material scheduled by you is not included here.

Electrical properties

iglidur® J350 bearings are electrically insulating.
Specific forward resistance > 1013 Ωcm
Surface resistance > 1010 Ω

chemical resistance

iglidur® J350 plain bearings are resistant to diluted acids and alkalis, alcohols, detergents and lubricants. iglidur® J350 is affected by esters, ketones, chlorinated hydrocarbons, aromatics and highly polar solvents.

Radioactive rays

iglidur® J350 bearings are radiation resistant up to a radioactive intensity of 2 · 10² Gy.

UV-resistant

iglidur® J350 bearings are partially resistant against UV rays.

Vacuum

In a vacuum, iglidur® J350 bearing outgases only to a very small extent. The application in vacuum is possible only for dry bearings.

humidity absorption

The moisture absorption of iglidur® J350 is low and can be disregarded when using standard bearings. Even at full saturation the iglidur® J350 does not absorb more than 1,6% of water.

Installation tolerances

iglidur® J350 bearings are standard bearings for shafts with h-tolerance (recommended minimum h9). The bearings are designed for press-fit in a housing with h7 tolerance. After the installation in a housing with nominal diameter, the inner diameter of the bearing automatically adjusts to the F10 tolerance. In certain dimensions the tolerance in dependence on the wall thickness deviates from this (See delivery program )
