Trapezoidal lead screws of the dryspin® lead screw technology
Lead screws are machine elements that are used to convert a rotational movement into a linear motion.

The [Link id="424"] and lead screw nuts from igus® are based on the principle of lubrication-free linear technology. The specifications and geometries of drylin® lead screw technology, which are tailored to the plastic nut and [Link id="425"], guarantee even longer service life and efficiency.

The trapezoidal thread corresponds in cross section to an isosceles trapezoid with an angle of 15°. The thread angle is 30°. Compared to normal threads, the [Link id="425"] has a larger diameter and a larger pitch. The pitch angle is smaller than the arctangent for single start [Link id="424"]. Thus, self-locking is given. Two-start lead screws, on the other hand, are not self-locking.
