Bus cables

The chainflex® bus cables are available for all well-known industrial bus systems such as Profibus, Interbus, Profinet, Ethernet, CAN-Bus, DeviceNet, ASi or CC link. Depending on the cable family, they can be used for torsion, for severe climatic conditions, for narrow radii, or particularly long travel distances, at high speeds and accelerations. Tested in the igus® laboratory with millions of cycles in e-chains®, they provide guaranteed safety against failure.
  • Bending radii up to 7,5xd

Bus cables

Bus cables

chainflex® flexible bus cables fulfil the special requirements of the machine industry. Our bus cables are specially designed primarily for moving applications. In the igus® in-house test laboratory, the chainflex® bus cables are tested by subjecting them to many millions of cycles and extreme conditions in e-chains®. In an e-chain®, other chainflex® cables such as data cables, coaxial cables or control cables are often installed. chainflex® high-end bus cables are used for future-oriented applications.
Further key data regarding the "BUS" and its declaration of provenance: This refers to the databus; in other words, a system for data transmission between several nodes via a cable (a transmission channel). If the nodes of a bus system communicate, data transmission only takes place between two nodes; the others must remain "silent". Otherwise, problems can occur. Explanations of where the term "BUS" comes from are not really precise. According to Wiki, one interpretation of the term, in the absence of written sources, is based on the memories of engineers who had to do with BUS systems in the 1970s and earlier and say that the term comes from the abbreviation "BU" for back (mounted) panel unit as used in circuit diagrams to refer to a component in 19 inch racks that was mounted on the backplane of the plug-in unit. BUS accordingly meant the back panel unit sockets for slots mounted on the backplane. The English word "busbar" is also derived from this. The bus is often compared with an omnibus – Latin "for all". Based on this, there is the retrospectively interpreted visualisation that a bus drives along its route whereby the passengers board and alight automatically at the targeted bus stops (bus nodes). This interpretation is technically flawed but roughly explains how a bus cable works. Theories about backronyms have also been expressed occasionally. For example, that the abbreviation BUS stands for Binary Unit System.
