For more than 15 years, igus® has been among the frontrunners for energy supply systems in cleanrooms. igus® provides a wide IPA tested assortment of e-chains® that facilitates easy-to-assemble, machine-specific energy supplies in cleanrooms. Since the quality requirements for cleanroom technology applications are constantly growing, both, in terms of customer expectations as well as testing standards, igus® is continuously working on improving its products.

All products used in cleanrooms need to fulfil the same requirement:
 
During operation, as few particles as possible should be released into the surrounding area. This is especially applicable for moving machine parts such as energy chains and cables.
To generate as few particles as possible requires high abrasion resistance, and is therefore also an indicator for long service life. This is a development goal for all igus® products.
The company igus® tests each of its products in elaborate long term test procedures in its own laboratory. Only what meets the standards of our laboratory is then selected for the Fraunhofer IPA tests.

All test results

The Fraunhofer Institut IPA has tested various igus® energy chain series according to DIN EN ISO 14644-1. For example, it is now possible to make accurate statements for almost all common e-chains® from igus® about their potential use in cleanrooms.
Taking all cables with the same outer jacket into account, 82% of all chainflex® cables of class 1 or 2 specified in the catalogue are certified according to DIN EN ISO 14644-1.

1) Individual series from various igus® e-chains® of the families E6, E6.1, T3, E3, E2/000, E4.1 and easy chain® were certified by the IPA Fraunhofer Institute in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14644-1 ISO Class 1 to ISO Class 5 (Report IG1303-640-1, IG0704-400 and IG308-295). This corresponds to 9,047 articles from the e-chain® product range of the same design/principle.
2) Individual sizes from the drylin® product range "T", "N", and "W" were certified by the IPA Fraunhofer Institute in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14644-1 ISO Class 3 to ISO Class 6 (Report IG308-295).
This corresponds to 197 articles from the drylin® product range of the same design/principle.
