About the application

SUPERWURM is the owner of Germany's largest worm farm. When it comes to breeding, the spatial conditions and feeding are particularly important. To ensure that everything is perfectly harmonised, the supplier relies on cost-effective automation

The problem

Sorting the worms by hand is a very laborious task and is simply no longer possible once a certain mass has been reached. In addition, the work is very dirty due to the soil in which the worms have to be bred.

The solution

In order to meet the constantly increasing demand for breeding worms, easy-to-integrate and cost-effective automation solutions are required. In this case, an igus® room linear robot was used in conjunction with a camera system and a conveyor unit.
