About the application

This pilot system from Volkswagen AG shows application with grip from a crate using the robolink® D and camera vision system. This involves the handling of the forced ventilation frame for the Passat / Arteon and the separation and feeding of components for further processing.

The problem

An automated solution was required to remove the forced ventilation frames from a small load carrier (SLC) and to remove and dispose of the cardboard intermediate layers. The forced ventilation frames were to be provided for a 6-axis robot to install the parts directly in the line process on the vehicle.

The solution

By realising the handle from the box with the robolink® D in the pilot plant, it was possible to achieve series maturity in automotive production The successful pilot project was implemented in the line process of the Hall 2 assembly plant in Emden in the 3rd quarter of 2020.
