Trapezoidal threaded spindles for quick fixing
The individual modules can be automatically positioned anywhere within the HBW with the aid of the load handling attachment (LAM) of the storage and retrieval machine (SRM) and securely fixed in place using the clamping mechanism. The main components of this patented solution are two single start drylin® trapezoidal threaded spindles left/right per module. They are self-locking, which means that the lead screw nut or spindle cannot move without external force due to the flank angle and sliding friction. In addition, there are left- and right-turning drylin® spindle nuts made of the material iglidur® J. The overall solution is maintenance- and lubrication-free and particularly suitable for applications in cold (-30 °C), heat (+80 °C) and moisture, for example in food storage facilities. Here, metal systems are affected by corrosion.
 
The design advantage of this igus® solution is that drylin® threaded spindles and lead screw nuts from the full range are available for every technical requirement. It includes lead screw nuts made from five different lubrication-free iglidur® high-performance polymers, in trapezoidal and steep threads, cylindrical type or with flange variants. "The trapezoidal threaded spindles with the matching lead screw nut are a safety-relevant component," says Adriany. "They cover a wide variety of geometries without bending."
 
In addition, spindle bearings are used in the RBG safety platform as fixed and floating bearings. They are used to clamp or clamp the spindle so that it is secured in the fixed bearing to prevent the thread from working out. The floating bearing is fitted with an igus® plain bearing so that the spindle is additionally supported, can expand and can also be easily adjusted from the outside.

Maintenance at great heights
Storage and retrieval machines in the storage and retrieval lines must be serviced regularly or, if necessary, faults must be rectified quickly in order to avoid downtime and/or breakdowns. This often works under adventurous conditions. Temporary arrangements are the order of the day. As a rule, this is not only laborious and time-consuming, but often also life-threatening. With the RBG fall protection platform, fitters can easily reach their workstation at lofty heights and move around safely. A bridge connecting opposing shelves can even be installed in a few simple steps. Telescopic bridge modules are also possible. The solution not only makes work much easier and increases safety in day-to-day operations, it also saves time and money.
 
The safety platform is customised. "Each clamping mechanism is an individual solution that reflects the actual conditions of the racking system in the high-bay warehouse," reports Adriany. "We offer our customers from a wide range of industries a modular system that can be customised as required." The individual module is clamped to the high-bay warehouse as required on site using the clamping mechanism. The two trapezoidal threaded spindles with left and right threads and the trapezoidal threaded nuts as the main components ensure that the platform can be securely fixed in place. There is a clamping shoe on the lead screw nut, which clamps onto the longitudinal profiles of the shelf compartment like a vice and prevents bending. "Thanks to the self-locking of the spindle, this is a relatively simple and highly efficient mechanism," says Adriany. Despite the enormous forces acting on the spindle and the lead screw nut (max. stat. F = 3,519 N axial per lead screw nut), the clamping always remains the same and ensures the necessary safety. Additional integrated optical display elements increase the ease of use of the RBG safety platform.
