As a company we are aware of the carbon footprint that we have on the planet. We have made lots of investments and changes into helping fight climate change but there were some smaller things we wanted to do. We have launched “the igus® big spring clean” this month and we have igus® employees up and down the country taking part in a mass litter picking scheme.
There is a lot of woodland around Brackmills industrial estate and this attracts animals and unfortunately rubbish! As you can see, the igus® crew got well and truly stuck in, clambering through the undergrowth!
"Her day to day role is in customer support here in Northampton, so as well as that, she took on the challenge of leading the face shield project..."
"Our team is very close knit, and therefore it was initially very hard to have people working remotely. During the first fortnight of lock-down, I made a small video.."
Our apprenticeships are varied and there is something here for everyone, from AAT, Business Administration, CIPD, Customer Service to Engineering apprenticeships.
“I joined igus almost 5 years ago as an engineering apprentice and with the support and development opportunities at igus, I progressed into a technical support role, followed by a team leader position; where I had additional responsibility and trust put into me. igus has continually supported my development and stretched my skillset. I have now broadened my capabilities and moved into an external sales role.” – Brian
In addition to this, we support the wider business in their development and encourage furthering their skillset. There are a range of courses team members have carried out or a training for, alongside their day to day job. Some of these qualifications include English language, Master of Business Administration MBA, Accounting and Human Resources.
“I started working at igus after taking a career break with motherhood. I soon moved department as my transferable skill base from Retail Management was recognised, so within a year I was supporting igus with all the recruitment requirements. Over time, this role became more people-orientated and I naturally progressed into running the HR department (i-People). igus supported me and recommended that I go through the official CIPD route. Over a 3-year period I completed levels 3 and 5, which were sponsored through igus. These qualifications have supported my knowledge and confidence within the HR field.” – Leila
The Northants Engineering Training Partnership (NETP) is a partnership of engineering companies in the Northants region that have linked-up with the University of Northampton and we are lucky enough to be one of those companies. The partnership exists to create a pool of industry ready engineers of the highest calibre http://www.netpengineering.co.uk/
“Being part of the NETP has been a great benefit, I was able to improve my knowledge and skills through working at igus. I have witnessed how a successful manufacturing company works. My placement at igus has been a great experience; I’ve worked with skilled engineers, which has provided me with confidence and the necessary tools to succeed in engineering. igus also helped me with my second-year university project and my dissertation. My CV has been enhanced by the experiences I've gained, and I would recommend placement through the NETP to all. Working at igus has been fantastic and I can’t thank them enough for the great opportunity they have given me.” – Adam

“After nearly 14 years in the Armed forces including three tours in Afghanistan, leaving the forces can be a daunting prospect. Joining igus UK was the complete opposite. igus offer 1st class training and ongoing support throughout your career. With this training I have managed to move into a product management role within igus UK. Working at igus is highly rewarding and you really are a part of the team and company.” – Alan
