Printed circuit board inspection at Four Stars Engineering GmbH

Four Stars Engineering, based in Bad Camberg, manufactures testing machines for quality control in the electrical industry. There are several machine types, which differ significantly in size and functionality. Different factors are taken into account depending on the PCB board to be tested. Thanks to the wide range of machines, it is possible to test several thousand PCBs worldwide reliably and without manual effort.

The work of machine assembly is generally a very monotonous process. The global demand for PCBs is increasing every year. This also increases the production and quality demands placed on manufacturers. In order to be able to offer marketable quantities, an automated solution is required. In addition, circuit boards of all kinds are very sensitive components that need to be protected from damage caused by manual handling.

Thanks to the modular principle, RL-D joints made it possible to design a customised articulated arm robot that was adapted to both the installation space and the required flexibility in the motion sequences. Standard solutions were always associated with limitations here. Another feature of the solution is that it is lubricant-free, which was a decisive criterion when handling blanks.
