Safe treatment

This robot uses focussed ultrasonic waves for the non-invasive treatment of children suffering from a stroke or epilepsy. Since the treatment always takes place in a magnetic resonance tomograph – in other words in a strongly magnetic environment – the use of conventional metal bearings for guiding the linear axes was not possible. For this reason, the developers used plastic plain bearings from igus®.
