humidity absorption / moisture absorption

The moisture absorption of iglidur® W360 is low and can be disregarded when using in moist environment. With a complete saturation of 1.6%, the application under water is however only very limited.

Mechanical properties

With increasing temperatures, the compressive strength of iglidur® M360 plain bearings decreases. Fig. 02 clarifies this connection. At +180℃, the surface pressure is still 10 MPa. Maximum recommended surface pressure represents a mechanical material parameter. Tribological conclusions cannot be drawn from it.
iglidur® W360 plain bearings are suitable for a wide load range. Fig. 03 shows the deformation under temperature. The behavior of materials under short-term stress is shown here.

Permitted surface speeds

iglidur® W360 plain bearings are well suited for low and medium speeds, both in rotating and oscillating applications. Linear motions can also be well mounted with iglidur® W360.

Temperatures

The temperature resistance makes iglidur® W360 a very universal material for plain bearings in different industries. Application temperatures up to +220°C are permitted on the short term. Please note that from +90°C the press-in fastening of the bearings is not sufficient and an additional securing of the bushings is required.

Friction and wear

The coefficients of friction of iglidur® W360 in dry operation against steel lie in a very good range. They remain very stable at a low level over the speed. Fig. 04 clarifies this connection. With increasing load, the friction coefficient decreases very strongly, especially till about 15 MPa(Fig. 05).

shaft materials

In the case of iglidur® W360, the surface roughness of the shaft in the range till 1.6 MPa has practically no effect on the coefficient of friction (Fig. 06). Figure 07 shows a summary of the results of tests with different shaft materials. iglidur® W360 plain bearings are suitable for all gliding partners. In rotation at 1 MPa load, for example, aluminium HC, CF53 and stainless steel shafts stand out. The picture looks similar in other loads or swivel movements. Please contact us in case the shaft material scheduled by you is not included here.

Further properties

Radioactive rays The iglidur® W360 bearings are radiation resistant up to a radiation intensity of 2 • 102 Gy.

UV-resistant igubal® W360 plain bearings are partially resistant against UV rays.

VacuumIn a vacuum, iglidur® W360 bearing degases only to a very small extent. The application in vacuum is possible only for dry bearings.

Installation tolerances

iglidur® W360 plain bearings are standard bearings for shafts with h-tolerance (recommended minimum h9). The bearings are designed for press-fit in a housing with h7 tolerance. After the installation in a housing with nominal diameter, the inner diameter of the bearing automatically adjusts to the E10 tolerance.
