igus® ball bearings in overhead conveyor systems

The lubrication-free and maintenance-free qualities are crucial for ensuring efficient material handling in overhead conveyor systems. xiros® ball bearings are ideal for the specific requirements of the conveyor industry. The flexible and lightweight plastic ball bearings require limited installation space so are ideally suited for a wide range of applications (chain conveyors, power and free conveyors, circular conveyors or even bag sorters/ pouch sorters). In overhead conveying systems, xiros® ball bearings can be used directly as track rollers, which can be optimally adapted to the respective roller carrier system. This helps accommodate transport weights of up to 5kg/extender crossbar and speeds of up to 1,000rpm. Laundries, for example, can use the lubrication-free plastic for safe, clean and sustainable transport.

Overhead conveyor systems and why they are a great advantage in a work place

Overhead conveyor systems are not heavily used in the UK however they offer some great advantages for businesses such as utilising wasted space and therefore creating more usable space on the floor.
This can allow for companies to potentially double the work space, increasing productivity without having to increase the footprint of the unit, warehouse or factory.
By utilising specialised products within these overhead conveyor systems ensures that the productivity remains high, low maintainence and no downtime. igus® offer lightweight, corrosion resistant parts that are ideal for systems suspended at height.
So what are the ideal overhead conveyor components?
Key components for overhead conveyor systems are:
  • Quiet
  • Lightweight
  • Clean
  • Durable
  • Low co-efficient of friction.
All igus® products have all of these qualitites are therefore perfectly suited to these overhead applications.

Overhead conveyor system from all angles

An overhead conveyor system in comparison to other conveyor types are fairly unique in the way that they operate. By being suspended from the ceiling allows the space to be maximized within a range of work places.
Many of the overhead conveyor arrangements run on a track style with a range of trollies.
