Definition of a Top Hat Bearing
What are top hat bearings?

Top hat bearings, more commonly known as flanged plain bearings, are cylindrical sleeve bearings with an integral radial flange. The flange provides additional axial load support and precise axial positioning, allowing the bearing to accommodate combined radial and thrust loads.
Top hat bearings or flanged plain bearings from igus are manufactured from self-lubricating, high-performance polymers with embedded solid lubricants. They offer low friction, high wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and offer a completely maintenance-free operation. This allows a reliable “fit-and-forget” bearing solution for demanding applications.
