micro flizz®: The alternative to the busbar system

Fast and smart: fail-safe management of data, energy, liquids and air in one system

Tight, compact spaces and fast aisle travel, for example, for storage and retrieval machines, are common application scenarios for busbar systems. Their major disadvantage is that they can only be used for energy transmission as standard, are difficult to clean and are expensive to maintain. In order to be able to guide not only energy, but also data, liquids and air horizontally and vertically at the same time, igus® has developed the micro flizz® cable carrier system - the alternative to the busbar system. With this system, travelling speeds of up to 6 m/s and accelerations of up to 4 m/s2 are possible.
The micro flizz® consists of a plastic energy chain that travels in an aluminium channel. In addition to highly flexible chainflex® control, data and motor cables for tight bend radius, the energy chain hose can also carry fibre optic cables with data rates of up to 10 Gbit/s.

If the user wants to monitor the transmission properties of the bus cable used, igus® now offers the option of using the intelligent condition monitoring system CF.D in the micro flizz®. The smart plastic innovation recognises changes in the transmission properties of the cable in advance and informs the user in good time when replacement is necessary. This allows maintenance to be planned in advance and prevents unexpected system downtime.
