The design of a control cabin in work machines such as cranes, agricultural machinery and construction machinery must meet high quality standards to ensure safety and productivity on the field, construction site or port. Wherever movement takes place - for example in the adjustment options of the seats, the control elements or when adjusting the displays - everything must run smoothly.
The cabs can endure some harsh environments so components need to be robust, durable and as low maintenance as possible. Below is some suggestions for components that can be used in such cabins and have proved that they can withstand the pressures.
Problem
Technology is advancing in the Agricultural industry and in order for farmers to keep up, they have to invest in the latest technology. This can be expensive. So, to help keep costs and maintenance down, machinery companies are looking at ways they can reduce downtime, reduce maintenance, all of which saves the farmers money.
Problem
The main problem that companies find with cabs on cranes is the positioning and adjustments of the seat. In order to maintain an overview at all times during the load lift, the seats should be able to be moved forwards and backwards in a linear fashion and also be easy to tilt. This ensures high productivity and a high level of safety at the same time. Other adjustments in the crane cab include sliding displays and control elements, above all the master switch.
Problem
Similarly to the cranes, the biggest problem with the cabs is seat adjustment. Excavators, wheel loaders, tracked vehicles or transporters: the cab design also plays its part in the safe movement of heavy machinery. A high level of comfort, a good overview and a natural sitting position are required here. A wide range of seat adjustments, such as linear rails on the arm and headrests or plain bearings on the back adjustment, allow the correct seating position for every machine operator. The products must work maintenance-free in contact with dirt and high humidity. In addition, the operator must be able to rely on the flawless and smooth operation of the control instruments.
Agricultural driver cabins use a multitude of parts to make sure that the adjustment mechanisms for seats, steering columns, mirrors, displays and control panels all move smoothly and due to the demanding environment ,these components must withstand vibration, dirt, moisture and continuous movement.
Within cabins you will typically find components such as; linear guides, bearings, cable management systems and hinges.
Absolutely. In fact, we work with a number of large companies like Lemken who specialises in manufacturing agricultural equipment and we worked with them in exchanging metal bearings; which had to be lubricated evert hour every day to iglidur bearings. This not only saved the farmer time later but they benefit from the high load-bearing capacity, their lower susceptibility to dirt as well as an increased service life of the plain bearings.
Downtime hurts companies. Even planned downtime hurts, financially and time.
If companies can reduce maintenance costs by swapping a few internal components, this saves money for the customer, they can use the online tools to gauge the life span of the component and either replace it before the end of the life or schedule some downtime.
