Digitisation and data exchange have become indispensable in modern production. With only one core pair in the Single Pair Ethernet, igus offers you the possibility of a guaranteed future data exchange. Transmission rates of up to 1GBit/s are easily possible and the minimisation of the cable to only one pair of cores offers you further advantages. You can use the 25% thinner cable compared to the CAT5e cable (CFBUS.PUR.045) in a confined installation space. It saves a lot of space, which has a great influence on dynamic motion sequences in the machinery.

The newly developed, industrial-grade plug-in connectors from Yamaichi and Weidmüller offer an excellent shield connection and thus reduce electromagnetic interference (EMC). The company igus offers a chainflex type with a highly abrasion-resistant and notch-resistant PUR outer jacket, which is sold by the metre. All ready-to-connect Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) cables are 100% tested by igus and thus ensure safe and reliable data communication.

The company igus has been offering the harnessed SPE cable with Harting T1 connector since 2021. At the Hannover Messe 2023 we are expanding the range with two new, ready-to-connect, harnessed SPE cables. The new cables are available with plug-in connectors from Yamaichi and Weidmüller. Finally, the harnessed Single Pair Ethernet cable is available in addition to the version sold by the metre. Cable length and type of connector can be chosen freely, with no minimum order quantity.

The SPE Industrial Partner Network

igus continues to advance SPE together with strong partners

Single Pair Ethernet is the infrastructure foundation that makes IIoT and Industry 4.0 possible. In order to promote Single Pair Ethernet technology for the rapidly growing IIoT market, igus is participating in the SPE Industrial Partner Networks with established partners such as HARTING and TE Connectivity*.

For the reliable establishment of the entire future SPE ecosystem, standards for transmission protocols, cabling and device components are also jointly developed and adopted and published in IEEE 802.3 and IEC SC46C.

In this way, the new cable could also be constructed in partnership for the T1 connector interface. As a result, the durable shield has reliable transference to the connector, ensuring optimal high electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The combination of chainflex cable and SPE connector is extremely robust: igus uses a highly abrasion-resistant, notch-resistant PUR jacket and the connector uses robust metallic interlocks with PCB socket.
