In principle, however, the low wear of the chains made of tribologically optimised polymers and their excellent cable protection guarantee a long service life, which reduces maintenance and downtimes to a minimum.

The disadvantage of busbar systems is that they are difficult to clean and expensive to maintain. The shoes installed on the current collectors must be checked regularly and replaced when worn. The system must be powered down to facilitate this replacement. In contrast, energy chain systems are virtually maintenance-free, can run for years without problems and only require basic visual inspections to ensure that the system is in good, operational condition.
