Electrostatically dissipative xiros® support roller made of stainless steel

Electrostatically dissipative xiros® support roller made of stainless steel

Goodbye to sparks

Our stainless steel support rollers are getting a new addition. With this version, we ensure the dissipation of unwanted electrostatic charge through our own xirodur F180 material. The following installation sizes are available: 608, 6000 and 6001 with stainless steel tube lengths from 100 to 1,000 mm.

No more sparks

GEA Food Solutions was looking for a lubrication-free, durable and hygienic bearing for its conveyor rollers. In addition, the bearings should have electrostatic dissipative specifications and be robust against intensive cleaning processes. The problem lay in the conventional metal ball bearings used in the film guide rollers. These usually led to sparks, which should be avoided in the field of packaging technology. Complicated sealing concepts with the use of lubricants also make metal ball bearings a hazard in terms of food contamination.

The solution for the film guide rollers was found in xiros ball bearings made of the high-performance plastic xirodur F180 . These are not only 100% lubrication-free, but also ensure that sparks are a thing of the past thanks to the polymer used. The combination of polymer housing and stainless steel balls ensures a maintenance-free operation, and the FDA approval documents the suitability for food packaging.

"We take advantage of electrostatic dissipation. If we use conventional ball bearings at this point, sparks can occur."
